It's Been a While..Albay

It was a family tradition to visit grandma every after Christmas...not knowing that that day, 27th of December 2010, was the very last time we could ever do that tradition again.

Grandma's place is a small desolated barangay near the prominent Lignon Hill of Legaspi City. I actually grew up visiting this town a various times having no extraordinary impression of this place except for our grandmom, of course...the locals seems so naive and quiet, houses are native and simple and it's like living in a county for mere survival. But I was wrong with my impressions..i realized that there is more to this place than guilelessness.

Behind the naive and silent people, are famous professionals in their own fields. Behind the serenity of the place are deeper and meaningful stories of the richness of the place. And of course, I will never forget that this is where my dad grew up and part of me says that I belong to this place..my grandmom will always remind me that.

Here are the photos of our last visit with grandma alive..

Those were the last happy moments with grandmom..

To savour the day, we went on a day tour around Legazpi City. First stop is the scenic view of Mt. Mayon from the Lignon Hill, a few minutes drive from grandma's house and about 20 minutes if you will trek.

Then we went straight ahead to Embarcadero, a mall beside the port which is now developing as one of the tourist destination in Legazpi City.

This site reminds me of Malaysia..it's like visiting the port in Georgetown. Nice concept from the government to put up a mall in this area, the people may enjoy the wind and the scenic view of the ocean.

On the way home to our hometown, we dropped by Cagsawa Ruins, the remnants of an 18th century Franciscan church, destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Mayon sometime in 1814.

End of the day, going home to mom's hometown Buhi, Camarines Sur...watch out for a separate blog!

Happy Trip!
