Everything Boracay

For years now and before finally deciding to plan for this trip, I was really wondering why a lot of tourists are fussing over this beach haven called Boracay.

One day in February 2012, when the Airphil Express announced its promo fares for Kalibo, Aklan, I was immediately summoned to buy air tickets for 9 pax (we're traveling as a family). Travel period is July 11 to 14, 2012. It's an off-peak rainy season and the resorts offered the lowest rates for accommodations and beach activities. (and it took us a lot of novena prayers for a fair and sunny weather:-> ).

Alas! The weather is perfectly fine come 11th of July. Travel time from Manila to Kalibo, Aklan is exactly 1 hour.

Upon arrival at the airport at 9:20am, Island Star Express warmly welcomed us for a land transfer (thru a coaster) to Caticlan Jetty port (the ride took about 2 hours).

Then another short sea transfer (mere 10 minutes in a fishermen's boat) and a two-minute land ride (thru a shuttle pick-up) to White Beach Boracay Station 2.
Caticlan Jetty Port (photos taken aboard the jetty to Boracay Islands)

Finally here we come! At long last, we are witnessing the exhilarating view of the most sought-after beach in the Philippines.

At day 1, all we did was enjoy the beachfront til sunset. Below are the photos of all sorts of things one can see in Boracay:

Just hang out along the shore, feel the wind, breathe the fresh air, the salty water and the movement of the waves makes you wanna forget all your worries and stresses away.

Come sunset, the views get more majestic and serene..

At day 2, we tried some beach activities which almost crushed our pockets into pieces. Because most of the island activities are matter of fact too costly for Pinoy tourists like us:-)

And we first tried PARASAILING!

 UP UP and AWAY!

The fun lasted for 15 minutes..that's all you can get for a thousand bucks--the fun+thrill+great photos/video=awesomeness!!

The vinta below is used for people who just love to sail in the middle of the ocean.

Then we tried the HELMET DIVING, to get a close encounter with the school of fish below.

The experience lasted for 30 minutes and it was unforgettable! Last activity for the day is just the island hopping.

We had lunch at the Puka Beach where we found an array of fresh seafood menus and a great swimming site while waiting for our food to be served.

 The sumptuous seafoods..yum!!

Other activities we found in Boracay worth trying the next time we visit are the following:Banana Boat Ride.

The Flying Fish.

Kite Sailing

At day 3, we strolled on the long stretch of White Beach from station 3 to station 1 where the grotto is located. Along the way we found some great things Boracay can offer.

The sand castle formed by the youngsters at early morning. You might want to give a little donation for the effort and creativity.

A sumo body wrestling the waves of the sea.

Girls who want to get tanned!

Young kiddo yankee playing on the shore

A lone tourist taking photo of himself. I must say this place is the best place for soul-searching.

A man on a board and paddle.

I found this fatal sign below a funny one. For those who cannot understand Filipino language just look at the illustration at the left side and interpret yourself :-P

A name so interesting for a sweet cake like this along a coffee shop nearby.

A school of fish on the shore.

Beads and pearls found on the hawker stalls as you walk by.

A huge totem pole.

A post represented by names of different countries of tourists coming by.

Footprints in the sand.

A wine bottle.

The lady's grotto.

The stone carvings of the 10 Commandments.

Come night time, we want to savour the last days of our vacation by watching the fire dance presentation and a little of a night life.

And we call it a day. Have to rest a few hours for our early flight back to Manila the next morning.
Happy Trip!

Looks like you all had a great time. The parasailing looked like fun, but way too adventurous and high for me! Loved your photos, although I'm squirming and holding my legs together at the THAT photo (you know the one)! LOL
