Mindoro Sling: Puerto Galera

Puerto Galera, located on the northwestern part of Oriental Mindoro, is actually known for its little beaches with varieties from white, brown and dark sands, snorkeling and scuba diving spots.

To go there, we rode a provincial bus in Buendia Taft terminal going to Batangas port. Then another boat ride from the port to White Beach, Puerto Galera. Our trip was the second trip that early 6am so the ocean is very still and the sky is so clear.

We reached White Beach at 9am..and were welcomed by a number of tourists sun bathing along the shore, some are partying, kids were playing with the sands and a number of establishments were just a few steps away. The place is really a haven for beach bums..like me!!

There's no way we're gonna waste our time looking at these people, we immediately rumbled in our lodges, changed to our beach attires then stroll around the beach..had our first Galera heavy lunch and contracted a boatman for our first Island Hopping escapade.

At night, we got to experience the night life at the beach..ordered the famous Mindoro Sling and had a sumptuous picnic dinner along the shore. Like in Boracay, there were local entertainers along the area and fire dancers as well.

Next day, we only made a few strolls, photo ops and swim bonding..

We checked out at the lodge after lunch and head back to the boat going back to Batangas port. On our way back..the ride was honestly, a wavy and scary experience..and I remembered this was what people in Manila were telling us before. The waves are really huge waves, water are splashing our faces from the inside and we're like riding a bumpy ride in a theme park, that feeling that our whole body system is crushing us to a sudden trauma..I almost felt that was the last moments of my life but with a strong faith to God, I kept on praying the whole duration of the ride when finally I can already view from afar the port. Thank God we survived that one except for one old passenger who was carried to a stretcher upon reaching the port, hopefully he just fainted due to the deathly dizzy ride.

I'm not writing this to scare or discourage future Mindoro tourist..maybe we were just unlucky that day, but I will definitely not go back..one experience is enough: )

Happy Trip!
