Hongkong: Exploring the City on Day 1

HK City Trains-Avenue of Stars-Mongkok

After a year of planning and researching....this trip finally happened! And it happened on my  28th birthday:-)

Checking in at Cebu Pac counter..with three lady travel buddies

Arriving at HK International Airport..wow! their airport is so huge and all organized with all the directions and signs in local and universal language on each walk path, the Philippines has a way way to go!

We rode the city trains to Tsim Sha Tsui to see the Avenue of Stars at night.

At the airport customer counter, we bought an Octopus Card featuring a one-way Airport Express trip and a two-day unlimited train ride from all over the city..so getting lost is not really an issue because we can ride the train over and over again without incurring too much cost hahaha! The card can also be returned for a 50 dollar refund upon exiting HK..

From TST station, we walked a long way taking subways thru the Avenue of Stars. Tourists will never get lost in HK because of the overwhelming interactive street signs all over the city..Just follow the signs and you will easily find your way.

The Avenue of Stars

View of the Victoria Harbour at night..unluckily, the symphony of lights were already through when we arrived at 9pm. We thank the Cebu Pacific airlines for the delayed flight!!

Bruce Lee's star

It's 9pm and the hostel owner named Jacky Chan is already waiting for us! Took the same way to TST Station then rode MTR to Mongkok Station. take Exit D2 to Argyle Street, Mongkok; walk straight and there we saw our hostel, right just in front of 7-11 Store and McDonalds. We stayed in a budget hostel good for budget backpackers..a reasonable 58-dollar room a night is not bad for backpacker tourists like us who will just spend the night to sleep and rest.

We immediately took dinner at a near Mcdonald's Fastfood.

Downtown Mongkok..it's very late at night and see how many people still littering outside. This is a city that never sleeps I think.

There's this car show when we walk through Mongkok Ladies' Market..a lot of local celebrities were modelling their luxurious sports car.

My friends bought Chinese food in a local store along the street..they were looking at the prices because none of us speaks Mandarin and most Mongkok locals don't speak English, we just communicated with the storekeeper using hand signs haha!

Yikes!! what is that thing looks like a gross!

It's near 12midnight, we have to rest for tomorrow's escapade..

Mongkok Station at 7 o'clock in the morning..We're ready for our day 2 city tour..next blog!
