Kadayawan sa Dabaw- Japanese Tunnel & Crocodile Park

30 minutes away from Eden Garden along the highway of Matina, we found a hotel resort-like compound with the huge carvings on a green carpet called the  Japanese Tunnel

Out of curiousity, we let the cab parked inside and we were welcomed by a male crew wearing a black japanese kimono.  So we enter the lobby, purchased the passes for a guided tour inside the tunnel for 50php each.

Remembering the memoirs of a Geisha :-)

The tunnel was dug and carved by the Filipino soldiers who are prisoners of war during the Japanese period to serve as a hideout of the Japanese soldiers as well as a means of mobilizing the forces armory and equiment against the American liberal army.

When the hotel resort was undergoing its construction in the later years, the tunnel was accidentally discovered by the owners of the land and was simultaneously developed into a popular tourist destination in the city. Woah! What a great tourist listener I am!:-)

And so here we are...witnessing the vintage remnants of the Japanese regime in Davao City. Found inside the tunnel are statues depicting old Japanese soldiers in a small meeting room. There are armory, prisoner cell, the lieutenant's office, water bank and an altar with the relic of the golden Buddha. The original golden Buddha was said to have been returned in Japan by the owners of the land.

There's not much to see in Crocodile Park but crocodiles and other reptiles per se. If it were not for my 1st timer colleague, I wouldn't want to pay a hundred fifty bucks for an ordinary reptile park like this...or maybe I was really not that excited because I've been here the second time around and I'm not really fond of reptiles too.

Nonetheless, we enter the park and just spend maybe less than an hour inside since it's also near the closing time when we reach the place.

The cab took us back to NCCC Mall in Matina and we had dinner at the famous Screpellato with the sumptuous Bulalo meal for two!

And we finally call it a day!
